Cooler nighttime temps have already set-in, kids are back to school, and Fall activities are in full-swing. This is when the anticipation begins to build for us all! We are looking forward to the coming Winter Season with you! The weather forecasters are starting to kick around the idea of colder and drier - we’ll take it - considering we will provide the moisture needed for snowmaking just as long as we have cooler temps we are good to go! Generally snowmaking begins anytime around Thanksgiving if temps permit. Please stay with us this Pre-Season and keep an eye on our Calendar to join us for Events leading-up to our 65th Season of 2025-’26.

Snow Trails Plans to Re-Open

December 21, 2011

We will continue to update you here, and are happy to report, the Snow Trails snowmaking forecast is looking positive for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. Now that we have had a chance to test the new Cooling Tower (first industrial grade in Midwest) to the fullest at Snow Trails, it is actually helping to make this possible. Take a look at the forecasted temperatures for these days, and you will find they are marginal for snowmaking.

After evaluating the Tower's performance, we have found it to be beneficial in allowing us to make snow at 29 degrees wet bulb, when temperatures typically had to be 27 degrees wet bulb. The difference of two degrees wet bulb may not seem like much, however when you are talking marginal, it makes a BIG difference...in fact it is HUGE!! If you are not familiar with wet bulb temperatures, they are calculations of both ambient temperatures and percentage of humidity. Here is a run-down of re-opening plans, as well as Guest Service and Ski Shop hours during Suspended Operations:
