Snow Trails Plans to Re-Open
We will continue to update you here, and are happy to report, the Snow Trails snowmaking forecast is looking positive for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. Now that we have had a chance to test the new Cooling Tower (first industrial grade in Midwest) to the fullest at Snow Trails, it is actually helping to make this possible. Take a look at the forecasted temperatures for these days, and you will find they are marginal for snowmaking.
After evaluating the Tower's performance, we have found it to be beneficial in allowing us to make snow at 29 degrees wet bulb, when temperatures typically had to be 27 degrees wet bulb. The difference of two degrees wet bulb may not seem like much, however when you are talking marginal, it makes a BIG difference...in fact it is HUGE!! If you are not familiar with wet bulb temperatures, they are calculations of both ambient temperatures and percentage of humidity.
