Snowmaking Plans, As They Develop
Snow Trails plan as of now is to begin snowmaking Thursday night with the hope of re-opening the slopes for skiing and snowboarding this Saturday or Sunday. Though there is a Winter Weather Advisory for Thursday 7PM to 7AM Friday, the weather report, most important to forecast our snowmaking, seems to be a bit fickle. The NOAA is calling for 2- 4 inches Thursday night, which does not typically translate into the best snowmaking conditions, especially with the wind. According to their forecast, the high on Friday is said to be around 31 degrees Fahrenheit. The Possum Run Valley, home to Snow Trails, typically holds a few degrees below those forecasted for the area. The possibility for re-opening Saturday will be slightly more difficult depending on what the coming storm will bring and how soon the temps will dip low enough to begin snowmaking. Our goal is to get and keep the right temperatures for round-the-clock snowmaking Friday! If so, it could be possible to pull-off a Saturday re-opening, to get you out and having fun on the slopes as soon as possible! Stay tuned for details as they develop...
