Snow Trails Will Kick-Off With Improvements
NEWS FROM SNOW TRAILS
For Immediate Release
From new Glade Areas to seat cushions.
Mansfield, OH, November 27, 2009: Snow Trails Winter Resort in Mansfield, OH has made the most of the off-season, completing projects from upgrading the tubing carpet lift and adding controller huts at the top and base, to replacing all seat cushions on select chairlifts.
Terrain expansion has gone to the woods, with new Glade Areas at the resort. Brush, smaller saplings, and few large dying trees were cleared in three separate areas to allow for advanced Glade terrain to be established.
New chairlift pads were purchased for both the Mt. Mansfield & Mt. Mansfield Triple Chairlifts. Snow Trails offers an exceptional atmosphere, without exception to the well noticed and appreciated comfort of seat cushions.
A brand new Snow Cat has joined the grooming fleet. This state-of-the-art vehicle is specially designed for snowmaking operations and tubing park operations as well. Benefits from the new Cat will be improved grooming of chairlift ramps across the resort, plus precision preparation and grooming capabilities in the Vertical Descent Tubing Park.
New rail features are also ready for use in the resorts three terrain parks. These park "features" are constructed in-house, by a team of professional fabricators. Brand new park layouts will be setup this season providing multiple lines for skiers and riders to jib and jump their way through each terrain park at Snow Trails.
The area's ski and snowboard rental fleet has expanded inventory to include 70 new pairs of skis and 25 new pairs of skiboards, similar to snowblades. Only today's shaped ski technology is offered by Snow Trails, which benefits beginner to intermediate skiers. Snowboards have expanded to include mini snowboards with ease of use for beginners to advanced terrain park riders. A brand new addition to rental offerings, twin tip skis, are available for a $10 upgrade fee.
All snowmaking machines are hooked to water sources and ready to be powered on at Snow Trails for an early December opening. Temperatures in the mid-to-upper twenties and 60 percent relative humidity or lower are required for prime snowmaking. On average, forecasts and yearly trends provide optimal conditions in the Possum Run Valley, home to Snow Trails. The area can cover up to six acres with a two-inch base in 24-hours with full fledge snowmaking. Snow Trails was the first resort to open in Ohio, last season, on December 6, 2008. The area hopes to provide skiers and snowboarders with their first taste of skiable snow again this season.
Snow Trails will hold their season Kick-Off Party Saturday, December 12th. The area's favorite party band, Red Bull Jets, will play live in The Snowflake Loft that evening beginning at 9 p.m. The party will go until 1:30AM.
Snow Trails has been serving Ohio since 1961. There are six chairlifts, two conveyor carpets, serving 15 runs, including three terrain parks and a snowtubing park. The Resort boasts being "Ohio's first and finest" based on its reputation of many Midwest firsts, including being Ohio's first ski area and the highest ski slope in Ohio. The ski season runs through March 2010, weather permitting. The resort is located off Interstate 71 south of Mansfield on Possum Run road.
